My favorite subject in high school was English, but I was torn after really enjoying an accounting course I took. My favorite teacher encouraged me to focus on accounting and I never looked back.
Working hard, always trying to improve and grow my skillset, and genuinely caring about my clients and my coworkers. People want to work with people they like and trust.
Try everything and be open to all opportunities. It will allow you to become a well-rounded advisor and help you find what area of the profession you like the most.
At the time of writing this, I am looking forward to our end of tax season party. Tax season is stressful and we like to reward ourselves and celebrate!
There is a steady decline in accountants and CPAs. Fewer people are graduating with accounting degrees and the number of accountants who take the CPA exam is dropping.
Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek. The main takeaways I gleaned were leaders put people first, integrity matters and you don’t need formal ranking or titles to be a leader.

Conflict resolution. I wish I had taken a course like that in college because conflict in the workplace is inevitable and it’s a valuable skillset.
