Professional Experience

Dave Thompson joined Barnard Vogler & Co. in 2009 as Director of Business Consulting and Litigation Support. Dave has a unique combination of both business and professional experience.  Dave’s clients not only rely on him for accounting and tax services, but can rely on him to help develop solutions to the challenges and opportunities of running a business.

He has not only advised clients on business and financial matters, he has lived them as a CEO and Chairman of the Board of a publicly traded equipment manufacturer for 15 years. In that capacity, he made marketing, production, development, and financial decisions. His company was named as one of the best small companies in the United States by Business Week and Exporter of the Year by the State of Nevada. His business experience also includes real estate development.

As a professional, Dave has had extensive experience in forensic accounting and litigation services. His track record of success over a variety of engagements has resulted in attorneys repeatedly seeking his expertise. In addition, he has been judicially appointed as a bankruptcy trustee and examiner. Commercial transactions and challenging circumstances are interesting and engaging to this solutions-oriented individual.

Professional Associations

Community Involvement

Known for making things happen, Dave has been the Capital Campaign Chair for Step 2, a program for women and their children affected by addiction, poverty and abuse. He raised $4 million for a counseling facility. Dave was also a board member of the University Foundation for six years during which the Foundation raised millions for new buildings.  He served on the Boys and Girls Club national board, and is past president of the Prospector’s Club, and served as a director of the Glenbrook Golf Club.


Dave received his MBA in finance from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota in economics and mathematics.
